The storage and transportation of wire and cable products are two crucial aspects. Improper storage and transportation methods can damage the quality of these products, thereby affecting the safety of their use. So, what are the key points we need to consider when storing and transporting wire and cable products?
Below are six points for attention regarding the storage and transportation of wires and cables:
1. When storing cables, it is strictly prohibited to come into contact with acids, alkalis, and mineral oils. They must be stored separately from these corrosive substances; 2. Harmful gases that damage insulation and corrode metals must not be present in the warehouse where cables are stored; 3. Try to avoid storing cables in the open air in an exposed manner, and do not lay cable reels flat; 4. During the storage period, cables should be rolled regularly (once every three months in summer, and the interval may be extended in other seasons as appropriate). When rolling, turn the reel upside down so that the side that was stored downward faces upward to prevent the bottom surface from getting wet and rotting. During storage, always pay attention to whether the cable ends are intact; 5. The storage period of cables is limited to the date of manufacture, generally not exceeding one and a half years, and ideally not exceeding two years; 6. During transportation, it is strictly prohibited to throw cables or cable reels containing cables from a height, especially at lower temperatures (generally around 5°C or below), as throwing or dropping cables may cause cracks in the insulation and sheath; 7. When lifting packaged items, it is strictly prohibited to lift several reels simultaneously. On vehicles, ships, and other transportation tools, cable reels should be fixed in a suitable manner to prevent them from colliding or tipping over, thus avoiding mechanical damage to the cables.
